Our Attorney

Attorney David C. Burgess

David C. Burgess has over 30 years of experience in corporate and business law, real estate law, tax law, employee benefit plans, and nonprofit organizations. He is particularly skilled in structuring, negotiating, and drafting contracts for complex business arrangements. He has extensive experience with the purchase and sale of businesses.

Mr. Burgess has written articles in various publications including San Jose Business, In Brief, and the Commerce Advocate. He is the author of three chapters in the book Drafting Business Contracts, published by the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB). Mr. Burgess also has performed various consulting services for CEB.

Mr. Burgess received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Hamilton College, with a concentration in History. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School.

Among Mr. Burgess’s community activities are service with the Presbytery of San Jose, including membership on the Presbytery’s Financial Affairs Committee and Permanent Judicial Commission, and the San Jose Family Shelter.

Mr. Burgess is a member of the State Bar of California, the State Bar Business Law Section, and the Santa Clara County Bar Association. He also is an affiliate member of the California Association of Business Brokers (CABB) and has served on CABB's Forms Committee for many years. He was awarded as CABB's Affiliate of the Year in 2021.
